STARS Music Service League was established in 2021 to bring music service, community, and leadership to Wenjen Piano Studios. Noreen Wenjen has been bringing her students to perform at senior homes for almost 3 decades, and the students love to perform for this appreciative audience!
-
STARS Music Service League is a community service group for elementary school, middle school, and high school students currently studying at Wenjen Piano Studios and friends. There is no minimum level to become a member. Student board members must be in middle school or high school.
-
STARS Music Service League is a student-run membership group run by a student board under the guidance of Noreen Wenjen. Students will conduct board meetings to plan its events and fundraising, and yearly agenda, using the Robert's Rules of Order as guidelines for running a professional meeting. STARS Music Service League was formed so students of Wenjen Piano Studios may have the opportunity to share their music with the senior communities in the south bay and learn the value of volunteering.
Wenjen Piano Studios awards STARS Music Service League students with community service credit for their time, efforts and talents. These awards, in turn, help students to fulfill their graduation requirements of their schools, helps to build community service experience needed for college applications, and most importantly, teaches students to give back to their community through volunteering their time and sharing their musical talents.
-
WHEN/WHERE: The first MSSL General Meeting for all STARS Music Service League members will be announced by the STARS Music Service League President, Stephanie Wong. The location and directions will be emailed to the STARS Music Service League students after submitting the application form. The first STARS Music Service League will be announced.
-
STARS Music Service League students share their gift of music with the community by giving recitals in senior citizensʼ homes, outdoor spaces, or through virtual recitals, and making creative gifts to present to the senior citizens. STARS Music Service League allows students to integrate service experiences with their music studies, which enhances their performance curriculum, fosters a spirit of volunteerism, and benefits the community. STARS Music Service League who perform community service as part of their school curriculum requirement may complete part of their service through STARS Music Service League activities (5 hours per recital and 3 hours for ushering).
-
