My husband calls me The Musical Instrument Whisperer because musical instruments seem to find me and follow me everywhere! I once rear-ended someone and ended up helping them sell their piano and I got a flute! Two of my students were given free grand pianos that needed to be moved due to renovation or selling a home! Sometimes, the cost of moving a piano is more than the value of the piano, so it makes sense to donate a piano to an interested new owner. Personal referrals can also be a great way to get first dibs on a great quality instrument that is no longer in use!

My website and Youtube channels get a lot of traffic from musicians and students. Every month, I gets emails, tests, and calls from friends, and strangers, wanting to sell their pianos! They know that I know a lot of people who are either looking to purchase their first piano, or wanting to upgrade their piano. When a new piano is out of the question due to price, how does one purchase a piano? Online services that sell other products often all lead back to the same “piano wheeler and dealer” and purchasing a used piano can be as tricky as purchasing a used car!

Music teachers often receive phishing emails from people pretending to want to donate a deceased spouse’s baby grand piano from out-of-state. Never buy a piano sight unseen, unless you or someone you know and trust, who is a piano expert has seen the piano, or if you can get a full refund if you do not like the piano after purchase! Free pianos can be even more difficult to find a good home for, as many “free” pianos will cost money in repairs. You can get a sneak peak at these pianos with the videos, and most are from acquaintances and friends of mine. The pianos listed on this website are all driving distance from the South Bay Area, including Torrance, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Hawthorne, Lomita, Los Angeles, and Orange County. I recommend that you find a local piano that you can visit, and even hire a piano technician to check out the piano with you, if you are investing in a high quality instrument.
